An old scanner saved… finally accidentally

Since sometime in early 2000s, I have owned a flatbed film scanner, capable of scanning up to 8″x10″ size. Although it was not the highest model, the scanner has been quite a reliable tool for me to digitize silver halide films.

Updating my desktop with Windows 11, it was a challenge to keep using my scanner, which is too old. I once tried another newer flatbed scanner, but it was much larger than mine. With some driver installation problem, the newer scanner didn’t stay long in my home (indeed it occupied too much room).

Desperately, I tried once more to find a clue for a Windows 10 (there is no Windows 11) driver for my old one. Finally and accidentally, I found a thread referring the company branch in UK. The link successfully directed me to download the driver. YES! It was a sensible insight that my scanner was not distributed in its country of origin, Japan.

Whew. Now, my old scanner can work for another five, ten years or longer. I love this old one even more! KT

My old companion. Rounded shape is rather distinctive and rare nowadays.
