Compared to an average person, I guess I check upon the moon more often. You may also know that the moon rises about an hour late every day, so that it waxes and wanes. The moon turns itself as it goes across the sky clockwise or anti-clockwise, depending on the latitude.
The most interesting fact I think is that the moon came to exist way before the human being appeared on the earth, some 4.6 billion years ago. And, we do not take a look at it that often. Why? Because it is always there?
From experience, if you would like to include the moon and the landscape on the earth, I know it is easier to photograph a few days before full moon. Likewise, Ansel Adam’s “Moonrise, Hernandez, New Mexico” seems being photographed a few days before full moon.
Coincidentally, people in Japan also cherish “the moon of the thirteenth night.” “Incomplete circular shape of the moon” is believed to be more meaningful and enjoyable than full circle. Personally I agree, strictly for the sake of photographic quality! KT
