For decades, I have been an owner of a few light meters (two incidents and one reflective spot). They have been my trusty tools for a long, long time. But, how about now?
Since they are more or less over thirty years old, their original manufacturers don’t even think about taking a look at it. True “Yikes!”
Recently, I checked their accuracy with much care. Luckily, they seem to indicate practically the same light value. True “Yoohoo!”
However, due to their age, they may become off anytime. So, I had an idea: I would have an updated, state-of-the-art light meter for safety. This time, I rather chose one from a different country, which I intentionally do not disclose. I also wanted a simple light meter, not a multi-functioned monster with a monstrous price.

To my surprise, my new light meter does not have an on/off switch. The LCD display is always on unless you take out the battery. It shows an exposure value, flash reading, alarm clock and temperature… what?
Conclusively, my new light meter is an alarm clock with thermometer and light meter functions. What a refreshing concept of a photographic gadget. I love it! KT
